SimCity is coming up in less than a month, arriving as early as March 5th depending on where you live. The game will contain a sandbox mode, apparently a highly requested feature according to Guillaume Pierre, lead gameplay scripter behind SimCity. Latest Tomb Raider ‘Guide to Survival’ video highlights fast travel and map exploration

Square Enix has uploaded a new episode for the ‘Guide to Survival’ video series to introduce important gameplay elements for the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. Similar to the Assassin’s Creed 3’s Homestead interface, Lara will be able to use fast travel to explored locations from the Basecamp for easier navigation. The ‘gear gating’ system requires players to acquire the suitable tools to unlock inaccessible places and allows players to uncover the island’s mysteries when they return to that same area.

New trailer, screenshots and release dates for Assassin’s Creed 3 Tyranny of King Washington DLC

About two weeks ago, the release date for ‘The Infamy’, the first episode of The Tyranny of King Washington DLC, was announced for February 19. Now the second episode called ‘The Betrayal’ will drop on March 19 while the third part, ‘The Redemption’, will arrive on April 23 for both Xbox 360 and PC. According to a Hollywood Deadline report, Fox International Productions is set to reboot the film adaptation of the video game Hitman under the title ‘Agent 47’. Paul Walker, best known as main protagonist Brian O’Conner in the Fast and Furious film franchise, has been cast as the lead character – lethal assassin Agent 47.

Disney rakes in $291 million from video games during holiday 2012

Disney posted its earnings today and its video games division brought in $291 million in revenue during the holiday quarter ending December 31, 2012 (a 4% increase from the year before). Out of this amount, sub-company Disney Interactive posted $9 million profit, a tremendous improvement over the $28 million loss seen in the same period for 2011. Games released during the holiday season include Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, Wreck-it Ralph the iOS game and Toy Story Mania.

New Sherlock Holmes game announced, to use Unreal Engine 3

A new Sherlock Holmes game, titled Crimes & Punishments, has just been announced by Focus Home Interactive this weekend. The new game will be different from previous Sherlock Holmes titles in the gameplay and graphics departments. The game will adopt better animations and environments by using Epic’s tried-and-tested Unreal Engine 3. Players will be faced with the newly-introduced moral choices, instead of ‘going by the book’, which will affect in-game events.
