Ahead of its scheduled Monday revelation, the world premiere trailer for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag has leaked onto the internet. As we all know, as soon as something goes online, it’s difficult to undo it.
The trailer was posted by gaming website GamesRadar onto their YouTube channel (said video has since been made private but below is a mirror link to a repost of the trailer) and shows off pirates and the classic Assassin Hidden Blade wielded by the new lead character, who now has a name – Captain Edward Kenway. The trailer, which appears to be semi live action combined with some computer generated scenes, is narrated by legendary pirate Captain Blackbeard and also shows off battles between ships using cannons as well as offensive boarding of enemy ships.
Blackbeard describes Edward Kenway as “a fearsome dog, a fiend of trouble and turmoil… fighting like a devil, dressed as a man” and that you wouldn’t want to “meddle with his private affairs for there’s more mystery about that man than even I dare ask”. He also mentions “he’s a canny one, knows his way round every crag and crevice of these islands”, hinting to a setting around the Caribbean.
This trailer also confirms the details accidentally leaked by a glitch on Ubisoft’s website yesterday: That the game is set for an October 29, 2013 release and headed for PC, Xbox 360, Wii U and PlayStation 3 as well as the PlayStation 4 and “next-gen consoles” (the plural word hinting a new Xbox might be coming).
