Will we get to play this holiday as a pirate assassin in Assassin’s Creed 4? Argh me hearties, there be a leak in the hull of Ubisoft’s ship which says this is likely. Game blog Kotaku has been tipped off by one of their readers and sent what appears to be a promotional poster for the next title in the franchise, named Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.
The poster depicts the next lead character, dressed in a robe-variant of the iconic Assassin’s Creed costume, pointing a pistol and a dagger of some sort in a face-off against several pirates on a ship. It also clearly mentions the title “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag”. Ubisoft has not acknowledged the status of this leaked poster.
Despite lack of official confirmation regarding the poster, the change of setting and theme for the next in the Assassin’s Creed is expected as Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemott mentioned earlier this month that the company will “introduce an all-new Assassin’s Creed hero, within an all new team and time period… and we expect it to be another major leap forward for the franchise”.
There is a chance that Ubisoft’s newly acquired THQ Montreal might have a hand in helping Ubisoft Montreal in this next endeavour, though we are intrigued if the game will be developed for current generation consoles or the next-generation PC-based PlayStation 4 and Xbox consoles.
