Ubisoft once said that Assassin’s Creed 3 sequels will depend on reception of Connor with associate producer Julian Laferrière stating that the company will observe ” how players react to the guy for sure”. Now it’s official: Connor Kenway and the American Revolution backdrop will not be returning for the next Assassin’s Creed game.
The publisher has announced that Assassin’s Creed 4 will star a brand new hero in another time period. The new title is due for release in fiscal year 2014 – which means between April 1, 2013 and March 31, 2014.
“We are delighted and proud to announce today that in financial year ’14, we will introduce an all-new Assassin’s Creed hero, within an all new team and time period,” said CEO Yves Guillemot, “and we expect it to be another major leap forward for the franchise. It is the benefit of multiple teams working on multiple chapters of the product, each getting several years to make their versions of an Assassin’s Creed game.”
A new open-world playground should be fun, especially with a new present-day protagonist in line for the spotlight. Ubisoft could be aiming for an Asian or South American setting this time, seeing that players have already visited Europe and America in previous games. More details are expected to be revealed in the next months and during E3 2013.
