New Command & Conquer to use Frostbite Engine (early screenshots)

News of an upcoming free-to-play Command & Conquer just broke today. And the latest word is that the strategy game will be powered by DICE’s Frostbite Engine, the same thing that brought everyone gorgeous graphics on Battlefield 3. Frostbite Engine was also used in Medal of Honor: Warfighter. This is interesting news as this modern gaming engine that’s known for its graphics prowess will make Command & Conquer probably the most graphically beautiful game in the franchise’s history.

We’ve got several early screenshots and artwork below released by EA. The game is currently in internal alpha, so there’s a long way before we see what the actual gameplay graphics will look like. Command & Conquer will go into open beta sometime this year for the Windows platform, though with DICE wanting to develop Frostbite Engine to Mac, nobody is going to act surprised if the new CnC launches for Mac as well.
