Wait, what? Looks like there has been a misinterpretation about Medal of Honor being ‘out of rotation‘ because Electronic Arts chief creative director Rich Hilleman addressed the issue on shutting down the miltitary shooter game franchise when speaking to Rock, Paper, Shotgun.
When asked about the matter at the DICE conference last week, Hilleman said, “We don’t think its a genre problem. It’s an execution problem. We don’t think Medal of Honor’s performance speaks to any particular bias in that space against modern settings or World War 2 or any of that. It’s much more that we had some things we should’ve done better.”
He also said that the company is choosing the more successful Battlefield franchise to focus on for the next few years while the Medal of Honor games would only make a return “when the time is right”. Of course, EA still blames itself for lacking “the quality of leadership we needed to make [Medal of Honor] great”.
All in all, Medal of Honor will be returning to video game world with (hopefully) plenty of fresh action and a new crew of (again, hopefully, less monotonous) characters.
