Assassin’s Creed 3 picks up from where it left off in the present-day storyline when Desmond awakes from his coma after being stuck in the Animus Island with Subject 16. It doesn’t even begin in medias res, unlike past games where there were wailing babies (Assassin’s Creed 2) and two angry bearded men fighting (Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood).


Ubisoft confirms pirate-themed Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag with official box art

Following the leak of a poster 2 days ago, Ubisoft has just officially confirmed the title of their next Assassins versus Templars game. The official box art of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag shows off a new assassin, no doubt the main character that we will be playing, brandishing a cutlass and pistol in each hand while dressed in new armor-plated robes with another two pistols strapped to the front of his chest.


Tomb Raider for PC developed with AMD; includes real-time hair rendering

Tomb Raider is ready to take Xbox, PlayStation and PC gamers on an adrenaline-filled adventure next Tuesday when it gets released on March 5. New Command & Conquer to use Frostbite Engine (early screenshots)

News of an upcoming free-to-play Command & Conquer just broke today. And the latest word is that the strategy game will be powered by DICE’s Frostbite Engine, the same thing that brought everyone gorgeous graphics on Battlefield 3. Frostbite Engine was also used in Medal of Honor: Warfighter. This is interesting news as this modern gaming engine that’s known for its graphics prowess will make Command & Conquer probably the most graphically beautiful game in the franchise’s history.

He may not even qualify for an Oscars nomination, but Gabe Newell, one of the biggest names in the video game industry will be honored in the United Kingdom with this year’s BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television) Fellowship award. The BAFTA Fellowship award is given annually to individuals who have done outstanding things with moving images. Until 2007, this usually meant actors, movie and TV producers, screenwriters and people in the film industry for most part.

Nvidia and Capcom bring out Resident Evil 6 benchmark app ahead of PC release

Capcom wants PC gamers to be ready for the release of Resident Evil 6 on Windows. In association with Nvidia, they’ve brought out a benchmark application that tells Windows users how well the game will run on their machines. Minimum system requirements that are officially listed are an Intel Core2Duo 2.4 GHz or AMD Athlon X2 2.8 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage space and at least a Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS graphics card.


Layoffs happening at IGN; 1UP, GameSpy and UGO to close down

Word is the video game editorial landscape is changing and just shortly after the Ziff Davis group acquired IGN and its network of websites, there’s reports of consolidation going on and it’s not good for jobs. An unspecified number of IGN employees were laid off yesterday and an internal memo from Ziff Davis CEO Vivek Shah posted on the internet indicates the “winding down” and eventual closure of entertainment websites GameSpy, 1UP and UGO.
