Valve silently launches Half-Life classic for Mac and Linux

It’s been 15 years since Valve brought out Half-Life in 1998. It’s been basically a Windows only affair (and also ported to PlayStation 2 in 2001), but just this week, it has been discovered that Half-Life was ported over to Mac and Linux and now works on machines running those operating systems. It’s a hint that Valve is thinking about Mac and, more importantly, Linux. Their upcoming Steam Box console is said to run on a modified version of Linux and Valve does have their work cut out… what a better way to start by porting their own games to these two platforms and this could mean more of Valve’s older games getting ported to Mac and Linux in the future.
