Irrational Games releases Bioshock Infinite PC requirements and features

One of the most anticipated games of the year is set to become one of the most beautiful games as well. Irrational Games technical director Chris Kline prepares for the release of Bioshock Infinite in March by writing a blog post detailing controls, graphics and gaming setup specifications. He also seizes the opportunity to express his appreciation for PC gamers in his introduction to the post.

The PC version will have different features compared to the console versions such as the ability to remap all the default action bindings and the power to adjust mouse sensitivity options for high-end gaming mice instead of preset artificial mouse smoothing. Of course, the comfort of console and controller users are also taken into consideration for this matter and have plenty of other configuration options to play with for the best gaming experience, like having three separate controller layouts (Default, Marksman, Retro) to choose from.

And the fun doesn’t just end there! Irrational Games is giving PC gamers some special attention in BioShock Infinite by touting that they ‘fully embraced widescreen gaming’ and that the PC version will have high-resolution textures on release day. Widescreen settings for the game will proportionally widen field of view (this was an issue in the original BioShock where field of view was restricted). In addition,  BioShock Infinite will support both windowed and fullscreen modes as well as multi-monitor gaming via AMD Eyefinity, NVIDIA Surround and Matrox TripleHead2Go technologies.

The game will support both the newer DirectX 11 as well as DirectX 10. The company has also put in years of effort to make the upcoming game look beautiful on low-end PCs by including options to scale graphics up and down. Other additions are support for Steam features such as Steam Cloud and the recently introduced Big Picture mode for those who want to pretend that the cinematic game is an interactive movie on the TV screen.

Bioshock Infinite is due for a simultaneous release for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 26, all guns, glory and graphics.
